Before
you begin using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 you must be sure it
is installed correctly. 50% of our Dragon computer support calls
are related to improper installation or insufficient computer
specifications. Before installing Dragon software verify you
have the proper system recommendations for best results with
Dragon.
To find your
pc system specifications, follow these steps:
To find System
Properties: Minimize all open applications so you only see your
desktop. RIGHT click on the "My Computer" icon. LEFT
click on Properties. The General tab should indicate the System
Properties and operating system and the last few lines of this
page should tell you what kind of processor and how much RAM
you have.
To check for
the amount of free space on your hard drive Return to your desktop
and double-click on “My Computer” icon. Right-click
on the C: drive and choose properties. A pie chart will indicate
the amount of free space available.
To determine
the kind of sound card you have: you need to access your Control
Panel. One way to do this is click on the "Start Menu",
click on the "Settings" and then "Control Panel".
Double-click on the icon that says, "Sounds and Audio Devices"
or it also might say "Multimedia" or it also might
say "Sounds". Click on the "Audio" tab, your
sound card (or sound chip) will be the default device listed
under "Sound Recording".
To find the version
of MS Office: Launch Microsoft Word. Click the “Help”
menu. Choose “About Microsoft Word”. A splash screen
will appear indicating the version of Microsoft Word (and MS
Office). If you do not have Word installed, follow the same instructions
for Outlook or Excel. If you do not have MS Office installed.

Dragon Training

We recommend
a minimum of eight hours of training for all types of new Dragon
software users. Dragon software depends on the cadence and rhythm
of your voice to translate sounds into text (think of it as your
dragon voice). While you must learn the software product’s
dictation style, the dragon computer software must also learn
the nuances of your voice to translate it correctly.
Dragon’s
speech-to-text products can read emails and documents to you
regardless of vocabulary of legal, medical or other professional
fields. The time savings gained by using dragon computer products
far out-weigh the training time required to use them effectively.
